Goals / Remit
The City Council of Barcelona is the top-tier administrative and governing body of the municipality of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. In terms of political structure, it consists of the invested Mayor of Barcelona, currently Ada Colau, the Government Commission, and an elected 41-member deliberative Plenary (Consell Municipal) with scrutiny powers.
Government action is organised around the political agreements that are approved at the meetings held by government bodies. Here you will find information on the meetings of the Municipal Council and the Government CommissionMain EU files targeted
Barcelona City Council is mainly interested in following-up all EU initiatives with potential impact in cities and urban areas, whether legislative or political. Also, Barcelona firmly believes that a strong role of cities in the European decision-making process would provide additional democratic legitimacy to the actions and decisions of the European Union. Therefore, we intend to promote an holistic follow-up of EU activities.
