    Goals / Remit

Amprion is one of Europe’s leading transmission system operators for electricity. With 11.000 kilometres of extra-high-voltage lines, Amprion operates the longest transmission grid in Germany and thus supplies more than 29 million people. Amprion also performs overarching operations for integrated grid systems in Germany and Europe. Located in the centre of Europe, Amprion’s grid is an important hub for European electricity trading and provides transmission capacity at the interconnectors to its neighbours. Around 2.300 employees help make sure the lights never go out. To enable us to keep the network stable and safe and prepare the way for a climate-compatible energy system, we are expanding it in line with the needs and demands that lie ahead of us. By doing so, Amprion is taking on its share of responsibility for guaranteeing a sustainable future for the power supply, and for a secure and stable transmission grid in Germany and Europe in accordance with the legal requirements.

    Communication activities

We monitor relevant European policy developments and legislation and collect information on initiatives and legislative proposals. Furthermore, we participate in associations and networks at European level (e.g. ENTSO-E), also as part of our legal mandate. To this purpose, Amprion organises information events (e.g. parliamentary breakfasts and webinars). In addition, we participate in conferences, webinars and discussion fora and present our positions and recommendations either by means of position papers, proposed amendments, bilateral meetings, studies and analyses (e.g. annual Amprion Market Report) or by contributing to consultations.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
