Goals / Remit
The University of Bologna stands among the most important institutions of higher education in the European Union with 31 departments, 260 degree programs, 51 Phd, 59 specializations and 94 masters, 96.984 enrolled students (8.526 international), 2.377 permanent professors, 1.005 researchers and 3.235 administrative staff. The primary goals of the University are teaching and research aimed at pursuing critical knowledge open to dialogue and interaction between cultures, respecting the freedom of science and teaching. The Strategic Plan 2022-2027 is centred on the 4 dimensions of education, research, third mission and people, striving for quality in all domains and contributing to creating value for society and towards the common good. The University believes in responsible research and innovation and is committed to open science, research ethics and integrity, gender equality, public engagement and scientific education .

The University of Bologna contributes to implementing the European Commission 6 political priorities for 2019-2024 and ERA policy agenda 2022-2024 through its participation in the R&I Framework Programme Horizon Europe.
