    Goals / Remit

Our organisation consists of the only 3 factories who have exemption from extended anti-dumping duty on Chinese bicycles and can export to the EU from Cambodia. Cambodia is the largest exporter of Bicycles to Germany and the second largest to the EU. Our goal is to maintain our position to continue to offer duty free Bicycles to the EU which is in the best interest of EU consumers, while continuing to employ around 6000 Cambodian workers, which contributes to the development of this LDC country.

    Main EU files targeted

The Commission launched a preparatory work in order to support a possible review of the legal framework governing the EU’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP). The public consultation results will feed into this work. As the member of CBC rely heavily on GSP we have a vested interest to take part.
During 2021 - 2022 CBC is working with Cambodia Government to apply for extended cumulation with Vietnam, who, as a result of the new EUVN FTA will lose GSP status in 2022, leaving Cambodia disadvantaged.

We do believe we have a lot of experience in the use of GSP and therefore have opinions on its effectiveness, and shortcomings which we would like to share.
