    Goals / Remit

The Environment Agency Austria (EAA) is the expert institution of the federal government in Austria for environmental protection and environmental control and is the only Austrian specialist institution which deals with all areas of environmental protection on a nation-wide scale. EAA advises and supports UN and EU institutions, public authorities, policy makers and companies. Our experts carry out studies on the state of the environment, as well as on the effects of policies and measures on the environment. We assess the implementation of policies and make recommendations for policy makers. EAA also supports other environmental bodies for compliance with EU legislation and in strengthening environmental policy implementation.
More than half of the agency’s over 500 employees are experts with academic degrees covering more than 55 disciplines related to the protection of the environment.
