BTCL operates with a highly professional team of scientists with over 80 years of collective experience in various fields of biotechnology. BTCL is developing technologies to produce biobased platform chemicals and protein-rich animal feed supplement. BTCL clients are businesses which are:
1. Using platform chemicals, such as lactic acid and ethanol;
2. Producing animal feed;
3. Generating agro-industrial wastes;
4. Seeking consultancy to develop their bioprocess technologies.
BTCL is an environmentally friendly company, working towards reducing environmental pollution and developing safer industrial processes. These processes valorise the agro-industrial wastes and residues, hence, reduce the environmental pollution by waste minimisation.Main EU files targeted

Dr. Namdar Baghaei-Yazdi is the MD of BTCL with over 26 years of experience in Microbiology, Biotechnology, and commercialisation in the fields of biofuels, oil microbiology and biodesalination. Namdar has several publications and patents. He has a BSc degree in Microbiology from King’s College London and a PhD in Biotechnology from Imperial College. Dr. Muhammad Javed is the CSO of the company with over 26 years of experience in Microbiology research and he has published and filed several patents. He has gained a significant experience in engineering the metabolism of bacteria and archaea. Having an excellent understanding of primary metabolic flux analysis, he has experience of fermentation process development for metabolic products. Dr. Nasim Farahmand joined our team in May 2018 as a Senior Research Scientist working with us on an Innovate UK funded project and she is now a director of our company.

We have been involved in an FP7 collaborative project (SUNLIBB) in the past, which finished in 2014 and we are trying to form new partnerships under Horizon Europe programmes and are considering to apply for new grants.
Other activities
