    Goals / Remit

    ITC-AICE's activity is focused on spearheading technology innovation and design processes in the ceramic sector (market and consumer needs),through professionalised management of a qualified human team.ITC acts as a partner for ceramic companies, detecting their problems and searching for instruments for solving them.ITC will undertake actions might enhance company competitiveness in the international marketplace.
    R&D&I lines:Buildings, Towns, User, Materials, Circular Economy, Hypocarbonic industry, Industrial Processes
    ITC works on ceramic processing, energy efficiency, and industry’s environmental impact minimisation,functionalisation of ceramic surfaces, new technical performance and aesthetic features of products related to the habitat hyper-sector and other industries.Its activities include products and processes improvement,residues,greenhouse pollutants reduction,control systems development,energy saving plans

    Main EU files targeted

    - SPIRE (Sustainable Process Industry through Resource and Energy efficiency ). This is a public-private partnership. A.SPIRE has transitioned to a new co-programming partnership Processes4Planet under Horizon Europe. ITC is members of several working groups: PWG1 Energy, PWG3 Industrial Symbiosis and PWG4 Resources and Circularity. ITC has contributed to the development the new roadmap for this PPP (Processes4Planet 2050 SRIA). On 23 June 2021 A.SPIRE and the European Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding of the Processes4Planet Co-programmed Partnership to be implemented as part of the Horizon Europe programme for research and innovation together with 10 other co-programmed Partnerships

    Glass BREF: Active participation at European level in the revision of the Glass BREF, together with the ANFFECC (Spanish national Association of ceramic frits, glazes and ceramic pigments producers), in order to propose BATs (Best Available Techniques) in the sector.

    Ceramic BREF: ITC has participated in the elaboration of the CERAMIC BREF approved and published in 2007. ITC is member of the Technical Working Group for reviewing this document. They participated in the last technical working meeting for the review of the CER BREF in March 2022.

    ITC-AICE has a European Projects Office in which 4 people work (3 university graduates and 1 administrative staff).The people with a 100% dedication to activities reflected in this register are 2 university graduates and one administrative employee.
    According to the entity statutes, the Association's main purpose is to promote scientific research, technological development and knowledge transfer throughout the value chain of the ceramic and related industries.
    Thus, the participation in European projects and in activities related to these projects is key to achieve the main purpose of the association. A large part of the research staff is part of the working teams of the European projects.
    Furthermore, several researchers belong to working groups and attend European forums (Platforms, SPIRE,) in which lobbying is carried out to influence European policies on issues related to these forums.

    A.SPIRE: As member of this public-private partnership, ITC has contributed to develop the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for the next period 2021-2027. (https://www.aspire2050.eu/content/p4planet-sria-2050). ITC participated in the launch event of the renamed platform process4Planet on 23 June 2021.

    RHC-ETIP-European Technology and Innovation Platform on Renewable Heating and Cooling: ITC partcipates as stakeholder within the Geotermal energy working group

    EARTO-European Association of Research and Technology Organisations. ITC is member of several working groups: EU Framework programmes, Structural Fubds, Financial experts, Impact

    EUMAT-Advanced Engineering Materials and Technologies. ITC belongs to the Steering Committee and leads nanomaterials working group
