    Goals / Remit

    Le CNES réunit les fonctions permettant à l’État français de définir et de mettre en œuvre sa stratégie spatiale. En tant qu’agence de programme, il a une fonction de prospective, de stratégie, de force de proposition, de programmation et de mise en œuvre de la politique spatiale française ; il représente la France à l’ESA et contribue à la représentation française auprès de l’UE ; il assure également la mise en œuvre de la loi sur les opérations spatiales ; il est, enfin, l’acteur central en France de l’éducation au spatial. En tant que centre technique, le CNES dispose de compétences et de moyens techniques lui permettant de mettre à disposition des plateformes techniques dans un objectif d’expertise, mais aussi d’imaginer et de spécifier les systèmes spatiaux de demain. En tant qu’opérateur, le CNES assure la disponibilité de l’intégralité des moyens opérationnels nécessaires pour les lancements, les mises à poste des véhicules spatiaux et les opérations spatiales en orbite.
