Goals / Remit
Established as a not-for-profit company in 2000 to deliver a step change increase in the low recycling rates across the UK, WRAP is now a registered charity with a broadened role of waste prevention, resource efficiency and the sustainability of products and materials. Our mission is to accelerate the move to a sustainable resource-efficient economy both in the UK and internationally through:
• re-inventing how we design, produce and sell products,
• re-thinking how we use and consume products, and
• re-defining what is possible through recycling and re-use
We act as a catalyst, accelerating change in the behaviour of consumers and the public and private sectors in the key areas of: food and drink; resource management; and manufactured goods (in particular textiles and electricals).Main EU files targeted

Communication activities
WRAP’s work on food waste is underpinned by groundbreaking, evidence-based research and includes: leading UK-level voluntary agreements with the retail grocery sector and hospitality industry (for example through the Courtauld Commitment 2025); running the highly successful consumer-facing campaign, Love Food Hate Waste; working with European partners to quantify, reduce and get more value from food waste across the whole supply chain (FP7 FUSIONS and H2020 REFRESH); partnering with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) on its Think.Eat.Save campaign; and bringing together like-minded organisations to create a global network focussed on making grocery products more sustainable. see www.wrap.org.uk for more information.
