Goals / Remit
The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is a cooperative network of universities, colleges, research institutes and other organizations concerned with education and research in and about the North.
UArctic builds and strengthens collective resources and collaborative infrastructure that enables member institutions to better serve their constituents and their regions. Through cooperation in education, research and outreach we enhance human capacity in the North, promote viable communities and sustainable economies, and forge global partnerships.

The University of the Arctic Network has existed since 2001. UArctic was created through the Iqaluit Declaration of the Arctic Council in 1998. However, it has been a legal body only since end of 2019. The budget consists of in-kind contributions of the members, membership fees and contributions from the governments. As of 2020, UArctic Association also has a fundraising permit to be allowed to raise philantropic donations globally.
