    Goals / Remit

    FICIL's mission is to improve the business environment in Latvia through active dialogue with the government. We work to advise in a transparent manner the Latvian government on areas to improve the investment climate so that it benefits all investors.

    Accordingly, the following principles lie behind FICIL's activities:

    FICIL works with the government of Latvia in solving common problems shared by its members,
    FICIL does not lobby or represent interests of individual companies,
    FICIL identifies generic issues and then strives for solutions to improve the investment climate overall.
    FICIL focuses on generic issues of concern to the wider investors' community in Latvia.

    Communication activities

    FICIL internal committees - work groups actively working with the Latvian Government on a range of business environment issues. FICIL meets annually with the Government of Latvia in High Council (HC) meetings.The HC meetings are intended to facilitate a top-level discussion forum between foreign investors and the Government, to set up structured exchange of information and views between the major investors and the national policymakers.

    Other activities

    The tradition and routines of the organisation encourage and support FICIL members to identify shared issues which affect their business operations in Latvia. Wealth of member's international experiences offers opportunity to develop and substantiate variety of alternatives for legal or administrative measures that can facilitate a successful solution of problems thus identified. Active participation in policy and decision making processes supports implementation of the recommendations. FICIL anticipates and encourages all members to contribute actively towards organisation's core activities.
