    Goals / Remit

The Good Lobby is a non-profit civic start-up committed to equalizing access to power for a more plural, inclusive and democratic society. We believe that every citizen can make a difference in their community. To this end, we inspire, train and help citizens to influence major policy decisions, hold their political representatives accountable and share new solutions with these officials.

To drive our impact, we build unconventional collaborations and alliances with and among NGOs, progressive companies, consultancies, and philanthropic organizations. Ultimately, our mission is to help citizens and other organizations to set up ‘good lobbies’, enabling them to balance the undue influence of special interest groups.

For this purpose, The Good Lobby popularises and democratises the various channels of participatory democracy existing at local, national and EU level. We do not lobby ourselves, but we create capaicity building in the civil society sector.

    Main EU files targeted

The Good Lobby is involved in two main policies, such as advocating for more transparency at the EU Institutional level and advocating for the reform of the EU transparency register.

    Complementary Information

The parliamentary intergroup does take a very limited portion of the time of our representative, therefore, the 25% is not accurate as percentage, more realistically it would be 3% of FTE.

    Communication activities

The Good Lobby’s mission is to enhance the advocacy capacity of EU civil society.

    It does so by fostering:

    1. An innovative ecosystem where the public, private and non-profit sector can meet, collaborate, learn from each other to level the playing field:
    - via the matchmaking service focused on providing legal, advocacy and other high value expertise on a pro-bono basis (114 projects since 2018).
    - via the incubator, focused on scaling up the capacity of NGOS, grass-roots groups and citizen-movements.
    - via the promotion of events promoting pro bono practices within the private sector to the benefit of the nonprofit sector.

    2. An ecosystem where the citizens can have their voice heard by their politicians, via:
    - The educational activities carried on by The Good Lobby, not only in person but also via its external communication (social media, podcast, website) to demystify and democratize lobbying.
    - The grassroots scouting.
    - The Good Lobby Awards, to celebrate the most successful projects emerging out of our community and beyond.
    - Campaigning activity (active campaigns online: Open letter to the President of the European Court of Justice asking for public hearings to be live streamed, Letter to EU Presidents to include Civil Society at the Conference on the Future of Europe, COVID19: Europe can fight it!)
