Goals / Remit
Sant'Egidio BXL Europe was established to coordinate the Sant’Egidio Community’s social and humanitarian works. Its main purpose is to promote justice, peace, development, international cooperation and the protection of human rights. These goals are achieved by ensuring dignity and equality, upholding individual rights, developing all forms of social solidarity between individuals, combating all forms of poverty, promoting cultural, education, social and healthcare initiatives.
The Association reaches its aims by fostering forms of active participation involving the entire population; by cooperating with international bodies, public administrations, NGOs, private associations and institutions; by organising and promoting training and refresher courses; by setting up and running shelters and counselling centres, residential, social and healthcare facilities, assisted living centres and foster homes in particular for minors, disabled persons, the elde (...)Main EU files targeted

Sant’Egidio is an international catholic movement extended in more than 70 countries worldwide. It aims to fight poverty and defend human rights through humanitarian aid projects and international cooperation. In Brussels, the Sant'Egidio BXL Europe is the union of Sant'Egidio associations and communities in Europe and it is a non-governmental and not-for profit-making organization. Its role is to coordinate associations and communities and representing them in the European Institutions. Most of the beneficiaries, workers and volunteers within the communities are young people. Sant'Egidio BXL Europe is able to communicate with policy makers and institutions, training young people as active players in policy reforms and policy-making process. It makes space for self-realization of young people, acquiring communication skills, self-confidence, planning and implementation skills, cooperate with other people and organizations, as well as combine different interests and cultures.
